vers.4.3.2 Little Snitch
I have and use Little Snitch. It is an important part of my professional toolkit. When the downloaded file is extracted, it contains a file hosting the installer for Little Snitch. Postpone the decision for a while whether to allow or deny a connection. As soon as you’re connected to the Internet, applications can potentially send whatever they want to wherever they want. Most often they do this to your benefit. But sometimes, like in case of tracking software, trojans or other malware, they don’t. What's to trust exactly? — Little Snitch (@littlesnitch) June 12, 2018 (Yes, I'm 8 months late to the party)

Testing for open ports in Terminal
As in previous versions, Little Snitch’s most obvious use is in alerting you to the network activity of applications and low-level software. For instance, launch Google Chrome, and Little Snitch warns you that the browser is attempting to connect to (to check for updates, ostensibly). Should Little Snitch let it proceed, and, if so, for how long and with what limits?
Release Notes
If you use Google as your DNS server, sometimes various Google services will just send the same requests over port 53 to 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 instead of the normal IP.
During the Installation of Little Snitch on macOS High Sierra you may see a message: “System Extension Blocked”. This is a new security mechanism in High Sierra, requiring you to explicitly allow the installation of a third party system extension. To complete the installation of Little Snitch you have to allow loading the extension in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General.
